Asignment #4: Jalisco (West)

Lesson 4: Jalisco

Jalisco is a state in the west of Mexico.  The folkloric costume for the male is a cowboy suit with silver buttons, a large bow, and a big sombrero. The female folkloric dress is a traditional "ranchero" dress with ribbons in the hair.  Their is a famous dance that is known worldwide as the Mexican Hat Dance, or Jarabe Tapatío.

Assignment #3: Veracruz (East Mexico)

Lesson 3: Veracruz


Veracruz in an eastern state in Mexico. In this region, the folkloric clothing for men include a white "guayabera" with four large pockets. For women, they wear a Spanish influenced white dress with Spanish shoes, flowers in their head piece, and a lace apron.

Assignment #2: Nuevo Leon (Northern Mexico)

Lesson 2:  Northern Mexico (Nuevo Leon)

Nuevo Leon is a northern state near Texas.  In this region,the folkloric costumes include leather fringed vests, boots, bandanas, and cowboy boots for men.  Women wear Czech-influenced polka-like costumes with broad lace-trimmed white collar and short full skirt.
